Docking Working Cocker Spaniels in the UK
The UK The Animal Welfare Acts in the early part of 2007 changed the law relating to the docking of certain dog breeds banning the practise for all but a few. Working Cocker spaniels in England and Wales (but not Scotland) can still be docked when relevant paperwork is given to a qualified veterinary surgeon providing sufficient evidence that at least one pup from the litter is likely to be used for working. In the case of the Cocker spaniel a written declaration from a shoot captain or shoot owner/organiser stating the owner of the dam with the litter is a current member who uses the dam for working. The vet must also have seen the dam and be satisfied it is a Cocker spaniel. |
