Tournament Paintball in North Yorkshire
Sup Air Tournament Paintball Most people if they haven't played paintball will know someone who has and for the most part the term 'Paintball' will bring on images of overall clad 'wannabe warrior for a day' types running around the woods paying no attention to marshals trying their best to inflict as much pain on the guy they don't like in their group but for the sake of peace has never told anyone! And again for most people that is the extent of paintball. However. There is more. Much more. Picture this, a netted area of grass 50 meters long by 25 meters wide (approx 1/4 of a small footy field) with say 30 inflatable 'obstacles' of different shapes and sizes laid out randomly. Two teams of 3, 5 or 7 paintballers at each end armed with £300-£2000 markers firing 15 balls per second @ 300 feet per second (200mph+) all wearing the latest kit (that resembles that worn by motocross riders), marshals along either side and a flag in the middle. The object - get the flag to the opposing team's end without being hit or knock out all the opposing team members. The hooter goes and its game on and about 30 seconds later it can be over with up to 5, 6 or even 7000 paintballs been fired off! That's like trying to run from one umbrella to another and dodging the rain drops except rain doesn't hurt! (usually) Tournament paintball is classed as an extreme sport and is huge in America and pretty big in the UK. More and more people are getting involved and spectators are increasing year by year. Anyone can start playing tournament paintball from 12 years old and all you need do is find a venue close by and you'll be greeted and helped with great enthusiasm from those with experience willing to show you the ropes. One such venue is the Northern Star Paintball Academy who has a fantastic following of friendly members so if you are interested click the link below and see what its all about. |
