Working Cocker Spaniels vs Show Cocker Spaniels
Many people who are considering a dog as a family pet are tempted by the excellent reputation of the English Cocker spaniel but can be confused by the two types, working and show.
Both types of the breed make excellent pets with little difference in temperament and needs. As with all dogs environmental factors play a large part in a dogs personality and a properly trained and well treated cocker, be it show or working will become an affectionate and devoted pet.
The distinction between the two strains lies largely with their physical appearance, predominantly their size - the show strain being considerately smaller. Their size makes little difference to the suitability of either strain as a family pet and is simply a matter of personal preference. |
